Project Management Professional (PMP) is a globally recognized professional certification. It is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), a US non-profit professional organization. In order to be compliant with the changing industry dynamics, the PMP exam changes every 3-5 years based on the PMI leadership conducted by subject matter experts from leading organizations around the world. The PMP application process starts when you start filling in your online application form. You have 90 days to complete your application once you start. Once your form is submitted, it is reviewed for completeness, which takes up to 5 days. You will then hear whether you are eligible to take the exam and you’ll be asked to pay the exam fee.

NOTE : The PMP application form can NOT be downloaded from the PMI website as a file (for example, as a PDF) to be completed offline. The only way to apply is by filling in the online form.

All PMI certifications require you to meet domain experience levels, educational levels or both before you apply. You will need to provide the details of experience and/or education, so it’s best to gather and prepare this information before you open the application.

You should hold a bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent with at least three years of project management experience. The three years of experience is expected to be comprised of 4,500 hours which you have spent directing and leading projects and 35 hours of project management education.

In case, you don’t have a four-year degree, you need to have a secondary diploma (high school or global equivalent) with at least project management experience of 5 years. The five years of experience should comprise of 7,500 hours which you have spent directing and leading projects and project management education of around 35 hours

In case you do not meet the earlier two educational requirement, then the third option would be: Bachelor's Degree or Post-Graduate Degree from a GAC accredited program (Bachelor's Degree or Master's or Global Equivalent) Minimum of 24 months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience and 35 contact hours of formal project management education

Cost of Obtaining PMP Certification

PMP Exam Pattern

The PMP examination is comprised of 180 questions. Of the 180 questions, 5 are considered pretest questions. Pretest questions do not affect the score and are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate way to test the validity of future examination questions. All questions are randomly placed throughout the examination

PMP Exam Preparation

Participants completing the 35 hours of training will receive 35-contact hours of project management education. They earn PDUs after they become PMP and attend other training/workshops which provide PDUs.
